005: Breakin’ Down Walls

Posted in Philosophy at 9:08 pm by Jay

Today I found a quote by some Norwegian guy named Dag Hammarskjold:

“Never complain about how high a mountain is until you reach the top. Then you will see how low it really was.”

And that quote made me think – obstacles. Too often we complain or avoid potentially tough or dangerous obstacles when in reality, the rewards those obstacles bring are great. Say you start out in a line of work you’re interested in as the office bitch. Sure, that job may suck, but eventually as you start to gain company credit, your job gets better until you’re eventually at the top of your field with a job you love.

Sorry for putting up 2 Philosophies in a row – I just kind of felt like doing this one, you know?

Well, that’s it for me. See you all in a few days, sweet readers.

004: Ridin’ the Emotion Rollercoaster

Posted in Philosophy at 8:54 pm by Jay

You know, one of the most frustratingly difficult things about being teenaged is the sudden wave of emotions and hormones and all that crap that you suddenly have to deal with.

Remember back in high school when you liked a member of the opposite sex? What did you do. I’m willing to bet it was one of these 3 things:
a) Watch from afar in an almost creepy way.
b) Take some initiative and try and do dating-type things with them.
c) Watch from afar for a while, psych yourself out for failure, then try and date them only to establish your self-fulfilling prophecy and watch as they reject you.

Sound familiar at all? Too many times I myself have fallen prey to the first and third choices, and I’m sure many of you have as well. I put the blame on the emotion rollercoaster.

You see, lots of people don’t realize the influence our emotions really have on us. In the above example, emotions such as fear, anxiety, and uncertanity have a huge influence over what we would do with the girl or guy. Here’s another one for you: Ever been having a bad day, and just lash out at people, even though it’s not their fault at all that you’re mad? Anger is taking hold of you, posessing you to do these things.

As of now, I don’t really have much of a solution to our problems. I’m a busy kid, after all. But I’ll give you a little advice: try and keep your head when your emotions might want to take over and make what could be a rational decision very, very irrational.

Enough of that, then. Also: If you’ll look toward your right, you’ll see another link to a website of a friend of mine. Check it out sometime.

003: Columbus Day

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:51 pm by Jay

So, thanks to the wondermous discovery of the Americas by Christopher Columbus in good ol’ 1492, we get basically one of the best excuses to have a 3 day weekend.

So i’d like to create this post in hopes that Chris Columbus checks thick blog from heaven or hell or wherever he is, and smiles upon civilization. Thank you, Mr. Columbus. You’ve made those clamoring for a 3 day weekend everywhere very happy.

In addition: Check out the new sidebar! —>
I’ve posted up a set of links to some cool little webcomics, and i’ll probably just put some other cool-type links there later. But take a read, if you can. Those are some nice little comics.

002: I Got To Beat A Car With a Sledgehammer!

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:00 pm by Jay

Ok. So today we played against one of the best football teams in the state. Now, our football team is fairly decent this year, and we got pretty cocky. So they brought out a junked-out car during the pep rally for us to hit with a sledgehammer for a dollar. That was the best dollar I spent this week.

It got me thinking – why don’t more people look to gestalt therapy to solve their problems? Beating the shit out of something is always fun in my opinion, and as long as it stays controlled then what’s the problem?

Well, that’s my 2 cents on that. Beating stuff with a hammer is very fun.

001: The Name

Posted in Uncategorized at 4:13 am by Jay

So, this name came about through a series of tough deliberation.

First, I asked Mr. Alligator for help:
“No spoons please”
“You accept thoughts”
“I rewind”

Then, i did a name anagram thing:
“Gear Rhythm Is Jolt”
“Thermal Girth Joy”

Then, i happened to allow my friend to stumble upon a good amalgamation of the 2. And thus, The Rhythm Rewind now exists. Congraturations.
