012: The Hype Machine

Posted in Reviews at 11:47 pm by Jay

So, my weekend was spent mostly in Austin, but that’s another post. This is something i’ve been meaning to get to for a while now.

How many times have you heard a song and wtaned to download it, but you either:
a) Don’t have the money in your iTunes account
b) Don’t want to get viruses from Limewire or BitTorrent
c) Don’t have any of the previously mentioned programs

Well, friends, you’re in luck thanks to a little search engine called The Hype Machine.

This little wonder searches the known internets to find any blogs that may have posted the song you’re looking for as a download. Once you get there, you can download the song for free, or just listen to it in your web browser, like for Pandora or Pure Volume.

Overall, I really like this little website. It’s easy to use and has a wide plethora of songs. Plus, it’s simplistic, and that’s what makes htis place such a good place to get free music from.

So check it out. Maybe you’ll find something you’ll like. I know I did.

006: My First Reviews

Posted in Reviews at 12:56 am by Jay

Ok. So here’s the real post. i’m gonna review some cool new things I found recently.

First up:

Yup. This book is basically completely and utterly ridiculous. It’s a book of nonsensical random facts that, in the presented form, turn out to be incredibly hilarious. My personal favorite section is “Hobo Matters”, in which you learn a comprehensive history of the hobo. I reccommend picking this book up if you’re looking for a good laugh or want to learn some BS facts to make yourself look smarter.

Secondly:

This new CD by indie-type band TV On The Radio. My friend Travis hooked me up with the idea to get this CD, and I am glad I did. The whimsical lyrics combined with the vast variety of musical styles presented on this album make for an altogether enjoyable listening experience. Hurry and get it soon, so you can get the bonus track version. And be sure and listen to these songs first:

  • I Was A Lover
  • Province
  • Wolf Like Me
  • A Method
  • Blues From Down Here
  • well, that’s it. See you guys later this week.
